Airlines Watching the Skies and the Time Clock
Fifteen (15) of the major airlines have hit a new milestone in the first Quarter of 2012. Eighty-four percent (84%) of the time; passengers arrived to their destinations on time. The previous high only reached eighty-one point three percent (81.3%) since the Department Bureau of Transportation Statistics began collecting this data in 1995. Analysts attribute this on time record to the mild weather and fewer planes in the air due to trimmed flights.
Operational improvements and airline consolidation play a major part in the better on-time performance. Fewer airlines results in better management of available airspace. No more fighting for take off and landing slots.
