Jackson Airport Undergoes Name Change
Categories: Industry News | News
Jackson-Evers International Airport (JAN) will now be known by the full name of Jackson Medgar Wiley Evers International Airport.Â
The airport is named in honor of the civil rights activist, Medgar Wiley Evers who was also an active member and field secretary of the NAACP. It was suggested that the airport be renamed to include Evers’s full name by his brother, Charles Evers.Â
In 1963, Medgar Evers was killed just outside of his home in Jackson, Missisppi. The memory of Medgar Evers and his legacy will live on through his namesake.
