Long Anticipated Boeing 787 Completes Inaugural Flight

The long anticipated maiden voyage of Boeing’s 787 took passengers from Tokyo to Hong Kong in just over four hours last week. The new long-haul jet has some new features which were on display, most notably windows that are 30% larger than similar previous aircraft.Â
The trip included many aviation enthusiasts for passengers, as well as reporters covering the event. Boeing expects the 787 to be a game changer for the industry, filling the industry need for a medium-sized plane with long range capabilities to connect smaller airports without the need of a hub connection.Â
Another big advantage the 787 represents for airlines is its construction using new age light weight materials. The impact could be huge according to Boeing’s 20% fuel savings claims.
