Designed after Hamburg’s own Knuffingen Airport, a model airport by the same name now resides at Miniatur Wunderland, an attraction in Germany which initially just featured model railways and villages.
According to a Today In The Sky article published back in May of this year, the model features:
- 40,000 lights
- 15,000 figurines
- 500 cars
- 10,000 trees
- 50 trains
- 1000 wagons
- 100 signals
- 200 switches
- 300 buildings
The size and price of this project make it the world’s largest model airport. To read the full Today In The Sky article, click here.
