Boeing’s 737 Gets a Makover for 2017

Categories: Industry News | News

The updated 737 “Max” is scheduled to make its debut in 2017. It will have more fuel efficient engines, which will use 10% to 12% less fuel, while still allowing 215 passengers.

Both Southwest and American Airlines are looking to purchase the re-vamped 737’s, previously referred to as the “workhouse of the industry.” By purchasing the updated, more fuel efficient planes, it will hopefully provide some pricing stabilization for travelers. American’s Chief Operating Officer, Virsab Vahide says, “It’s around $85 million per year in fuel costs that will be saved.”

With fuel prices ever changing, it’s great to see airlines coming up with strategies to lower costs in hopes of passing on the savings to its customers.
