Air France-KLM has launched the latest innovation in permanent bag tags called eTag which is accompanied by a device called eTrack.  They have partnered with FastTrack, Samsonite and Dutch telco KPN with input also coming from Delta Airlines. They are working with other suppliers so that it can be used with any airline. 

The eTag electronic baggage label includes a two piece systems.  One is a display that attaches on the outside of the luggage and the other piece is the tracking device that goes in the inside of the luggage. 

Losing your luggage with this type of tracking and identification device will be almost impossible now.  This is another reason why flying is becoming more convenient to passengers.
