The $10,000 Good Deed
Categories: Industry News | News
The holiday season is not just a time for giving, but a time for giving back, as a man from Colorado demonstrates.
Mitch Gilbert, while passing through the Las Vegas Airport (LAS), found two unmarked envelopes on a table, which as it turned out contained $5,000 cash each. He felt that the right thing to do here was to get the money back to its owner.
Gilbert continued to contact the airport everyday for about two weeks, when a man from El Paso finally called the airport to report the missing cash.
The El Paso man, Ignacio Marquez, had won the cash gambling in Las Vegas. He was shocked and grateful that Gilbert had made efforts to return the money, as he knows how hard that must have been.
Beyond feeling thankful for Gilbert’s good deed, Marquez also demonstrated his appreciation by insisting that Gilbert keep $1,000 as a reward. Gilbert was reluctant to accept, but did, even though completing the good deed was reward enough for him.
