Tips: Get the Seat You Want on Your Next Flight
Categories: Industry News | News
You don’t have to pay extra because you would like to sit near a window or in an aisle seat anymore. Although the airlines are reserving more seats for passengers willing to pay the extra $25 to sit next to their family, these tips can help you sit where you like for a fair fare:
- Booking early definitely helps with seat designation. The earlier you book, the more open seats there are.
- Visit the airlines website 5 days before departure. The “elite†flyers get upgraded to fist class then and again every 24 to 48 hours. Their original coach seats will then be made available.
- For 99 cents, Expertflyer.com will alert you via email that an aisle or window seat is available. (it will alert you if an adjacent seat becomes available as well).
- 24 hours before your flight, the airline will release previously held seats they had designated for passengers with disabilities or children that travel without a parent.
