American and Alaska Airlines Boost Their Alliance

American Airlines and Alaska Airlines are enhancing their partnership.
The carriers announced today that they will expand their passenger-sharing “codeshare” pact to cover additional routes.
“Codeshare” deals allow airlines to place their two-letter airline “codes” and sell seats on many of each other’s flights. For fliers, such deals allow customers to buy a single ticket that might include flights on a combination of the two airlines.
For example, a Seattle-to-Austin passenger could fly and check baggage on a single-ticket itinerary that includes an Alaska Airlines flight from Seattle to Dallas/Fort Worth with a connection to Austin on American.
