TSA Testing Reduced Airport Security for Elderly
Categories: Industry News | News
The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) is launching a pilot program at four airports aimed at reducing security for elderly passengers. The passengers, aged 75 and older will see reduced pat-downs, and the elimination of requirements to remove shoes and light jackets. Similar age based reductions were implemented last fall for children 12 and under.
The airports where the pilot program is being instituted include Chicago O’Hare (ORD), Denver International (DEN), Orlando International (MCO), and Portland Ore. International (PDX).
The changes are part of the TSA’s strategy to make screening easier for low-risk passengers and focus resources on potentially riskier passengers.
